FIS sCO₂ Heaters
High-efficiency sCO₂ Fired Heaters
In a supercritical CO₂ (sCO₂) power cycle, CO₂ circulates in a closed loop at high pressure and drives a compact turbine. The turbine has no combustor, so a fired heater supplies the heat, burning natural gas to heat the CO₂ before it reaches the turbine. At pressures above 2,500 psi and outlet temperatures of 550 to 600 °C or higher, the design comes down to tube metal temperature, alloy selection, pressure drop and flame clearance. FIS solves the same problems in refinery heaters.
What We Offer
Rated for your required duty, turndown and efficiency, from pilot units to multi-megawatt commercial heaters
Designed to your cycle's inlet and outlet temperatures, pressures, flow and allowable pressure drop
Coil alloys (austenitic stainless or nickel alloys) and wall thicknesses selected per API 530
Modular, shop-fabricated construction that cuts field work
Containerized option that ships in standard 40-ft containers
Why FIS
30 years designing and revamping refinery fired heaters, much larger than a typical sCO₂ unit
Established relationships with tube mills, burner and fan manufacturers, and qualified fabricators
US fabrication for the shortest schedule, or overseas fabrication when cost matters
FIS manages design, procurement, inspection and shipping
