In May 2003, we carried out a burner replacement project on the same heater. The Cat Feed Hydrotreater Heater (CFHT) consisted of three numbers of Upfired Natural Draft Burners. These burners had a very high heat release rate and a poor fuel air mixing, leading to long flames and uneven heat distribution. These were replaced with new low NOx burners. We developed the burner specifications and evaluated the vendor quotations as well as witnessed the burner test. We then developed a complete detailed engineering and fabrication drawings for this project designing the floor, windbox and dampers.
Our client directly furnished our drawing to the fabricators. The heater was commissioned after revamp in July 2003 and has been performing better since.
